Overnight train back to Hanoi

We slept on the night train on our way back to Hanoi, and rolled out into the dark humid city at 5:00am.  There is little order in the train station.  We just rolled our bags right across the tracks, even dodging some ( slow) moving trains as we made our way to the platform.

Our bus picked us up for a quick trip to the Ho Chi Minh memorial and mausoleum.  His preserved body lies in state in a huge parade ground across from the new parliament building.  It's May Day here, a national holiday, so we couldn't go inside, but we arrived in time to see the ceremonial flag honor ceremony.  And we got to see all the people in the park doing morning group tai chi exercises together.  Flags were flying everywhere, the red with a yellow star that's the national flag, and the red with the yellow hammer and sickle that's the flag of the ruling communist party.
