The house from the outside.

The house where we are staying is traditional Vietnamese, pre-French colonial.  It's old and creaky and fabulously interesting. This is a photo of the house from the old courtyard.  Even though we're in the middle of a huge city, we are surrounded by the sounds of birds, insects, and, at this hour, roosters crowing.
