Cambodian traditional dance

Last night we went to the old colonial hotel, Raffles, which is quite high end.  They have an outdoor stage a dinner area on their grounds, and we went to have an amazing buffet dinner with all sorts of delicious foods, and to see the traditional Cambodian dancing and martial arts.

Cambodian food is closer to Thai, with more coconut milk in dishes, and some curries.  They are known for their Khmer barbecue, which is done on sticks like kabobs, similar to the satay style in Thailand.  They also serve lots of fruit and rice, like in Viet Nam, but we don't see any of the spring rolls or rice paper wrapped food that was served at every meal in Viet Nam.  We also see some Chinese influence, with a kind of stir fry in sauce kind of dish that tastes like Chinese sweet and sour.

The dancers did some traditional dances in costume, including the dance done only for the King in old days.  They also demonstrated ancient martial arts that were based on the moves of different animals.
